Spiritual Growth
The Mission of Christ's Church is to grow in our love for God and to lead others in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
To accomplish our mission, we encourage each other at Christ's Church to strongly value five core priorities, and to continually grow in each of the five core priorities, in order to accomplish our mission, as a church; and to accomplish your life mission, individually. Listed below are opportunities and resources to help us grow in our love for God and lead others in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus. Christ's Church understands and teaches these five priorities (purposes) of the local church as follows:
-
To be a Responsive Community ? growing together by regularly entering into an intimate time with God through prayer and worship. (Matthew 6:5-13; Ephesians 6:18; 1 1Thessalonians 5:16-18; Colossians 3:16; 1 Chronicles 16:29; Psalm 100:2)
-
To be a Life-giving Community ? growing together through love, care, and fellowship to build an authentic Christian community. (Acts 2:42-47; John 17:20-23; Hebrews 10:24-25; Ephesians 4:32; 1 Thessalonians 5:11)
-
To be an Obedient Community ? growing together by regularly seeking, studying, and applying the truth of the Bible, to become disciples of Jesus Christ. (Colossians 1:28-29, 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12-13; Isaiah. 55:11, Psalm 119:9&11)
-
To be a Working Community ? growing together by helping believers identify and use their God-given gifts, abilities, and resources for service to God and others. (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Malachi 3:6-10; 2 Corinthians 9:6-15; Romans 12:1; Galatians 5:13; Ephesians 6:7; James 2:14-19; 1 Peter 1:22)
-
To be a Bringing Community ? growing together by regularly praying for, and inviting and welcoming others to Christ and the church. (Acts 4:19-20; Philemon 1:6; Matthew 28:19; John 1:42a & 46b; Luke 5:29; Philemon 1:6; John 13:34-35; 1John 4:11-12)
At Christ's Church we realize that your schedule, your stage of life, and your personal needs impact how involved you can become. We believe that life-change typically happens best in the context of a small group, yet we also understand that God grows each of us up in unique ways, using personal times of study, large group study and a host of other spiritual growth opportunities to encourage our development.
Please visit our resource page for individual and small group spiritual growth resources that Christ's Church recommends for each of our five core priorities.
